Bleaching

Professional cleanings will usually suffice to remove superficial discoloration from teeth, however, if this is ineffective, then you may wish to consider the use of bleaching agents to restore the tooth.

Bleaching is a common method used to lighten moderately stained, or discolored teeth.  We have multiple bleaching methods to choose from.  Here we use a concentrated form of bleach along with a plasma arch (not a laser) light.  It takes about an hour.  We will take a mold of your teeth.  The mold is used to construct a form fitting mouth tray that will hold the bleaching agent against the teeth.  The tray keeps the bleaching agent from concentrating on the gums.  This is important because if the bleaching solution remains in contact with the gum tissue for a prolonged period, it can irritate, or even burn the gums.  Why do we use both methods?  1) It avoids using the harshest chemicals. 2) It eliminates the need of redoing the process in one to two years.

If you chose to have only the mouth tray, it is worn each day from 1/2 to 2 hours. There should be a noticeable improvement within two weeks.  The product can be used until you reach a satisfactory shade of white.  We may wish to see you periodically in order to ensure that your gums are not being adversely affected by the treatment.  There is also a lower initial investment
